Cantor

Cantor Ronit Rubin has been associated with Temple Samu-El Or Olom since 1979. In her capacity as a Religious School teacher and B’nai Mitzvah teacher, she touched the lives of a great many of our children. As a member of our congregation, she and Ross were married at the Temple, and both their daughters Melissa and Michelle, became B’not Mitzvah on our bima. In 1979 Cantor Rubin also began her teaching career at Temple Beth Am Day School where she has taught Hebrew in grades K-6 over the years.

Cantor Rubin is a trained mezzo-soprano-she studied voice with Eric Cardwell and Lois Yavnieli, and cantorial arts with Hazzan Moshe Schulhof.

Since the year 2000, Cantor Rubin has graced our bima with her beautiful voice, preparing our children for Bar/Bat Mitzvah, and has directed the Purim plays. She encourages participation in services by young and old alike.

As a child growing up in Israel, she remembers that singing was an important part of every significant occasion, and she wants to bring her enthusiasm and love of Jewish and Israeli song to all our congregants.

Being the child of Jewish educators, once the family moved to the United States, they lived in Kansas City, Scranton, Pennsylvania, and Greensboro, North Carolina. It was at UNC-Greensboro that Cantor Rubin received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education.

We are fortunate that her travels all over the world brought her to us!
