Scholarship Committee

Dear Parent,

Your child will be considered for a scholarship award to one or more of the many programs Temple Samu-El Or Olom participates in: Camp Ramah, Panim al Panim, Send your Youth to Israel, (SYI), March of the Living, and various USY or Kadima activities like conventions and LTI.

In the past, scholarships were awarded simply based on request. The Scholarship Committee of Temple Samu-El Or Olom has decided future scholarship amounts will be based on request, service to the Temple and on need. There will be an evaluation presented to the Scholarship Committee from the Rabbi and the Youth Director. Following are some criterion that will be utilized in order to determine the amount of a scholarship.

  1. Family membership in good standing at the Temple.

  2. A formal request to the committee must be made.

  3. The child must be actively involved in Temple activities on a yearly basis.

  4. The child must be enrolled in the Temple’s Religious School, or a Jewish Day School.

  5. The child must be a member in good standing of Jewish Youth Group, preferably our USY or Kadima youth groups.

  6. The child must assist with Shabbat dinners or luncheons.

  7. The child must relate their experience in the program to the congregation.

  8. The family must present evidence of financial need.

More detailed information will be developed and distributed to those interested in this program. Please feel free to communicate with the Scholarship Committee what your thoughts may be relating to these scholarships. This policy will come into effect for the year 2002-2003.

    Sincerely,

    Elias Rimland

    Scholarship Committee Chair.
